Idyllwild-Pine Cove history And a few facts.

Idyllwild-Pine Cove is positioned 33.74 degrees north of the equator and 116.72 degrees west of the prime meridian.

George B. Hannahs and his wife, Sarah came to Strawberry Valley in 1889. There they opened a resort in 1890 “Camp Idyllwilde”. There after they opened a General Store. On March 3, 1893 the first post office was of Idyllwild was opened. George was the first postmaster. The General Store and Post Office was named Rayneta.

By June of 1901 several doctors from Los Angeles opened up the Idyllwild Santorium.
